Last week in Haringvliet, the Netherlands, the OCEAN2020 team successfully carried out significant integration live tests to verify the deployment of the MCM (Mine Countermeasure) Squad consisting of four unmanned systems: the USS Sea Raider and two AUV Oceanscan from TNO, with the AUV Biondo from CMRE. EDA witnessed the test taking the opportunity of a technical check of the integration activities.
The tests addressed the search and identification of two underwater targets by the MCM Squad. The Squad behaviour proved the collaborative autonomy of unmanned systems that cooperated during the search and identification phases of the MCM mission without human intervention, with the exception of the manual actions needed to launch the two AUV Oceanscan from the USS Sea Raider.
The MCM mission was monitored by the experimental CMS Guardion of the Royal Dutch Navy. This integration test was a preview of the MCM Squad capabilities that will be demonstrated during the Baltic Sea Demo in August.
