PT MOC
PT-MOC's main missions and competencies are the following:
- Ensure, in maritime spaces of national sovereignty and jurisdiction, the state authority at sea.
- Perform search and rescue at sea.
- Monitor navigation and ensure maritime situational awareness in national maritime spaces.
- Carry out maritime surveillance.
- Monitor ongoing maritime operations.
- Disseminate shipping warnings with regard to maritime safety.
- Monitor detected pollution events.
- Ensure articulation with other national and international entities and organizations.
- Ensure the monitoring of merchant, recreational and fishing navigation.
- Monitor the activities of ships engaged in scientific research.
- Compile information on military and non-military submarine, surface and air navigation.
- Maintain current nautical, meteorological, hydrographic and oceanographic information, as well as environmental information, in order to support operations.
