OCEAN2020: USS Autonomous behaviour model demonstrated at Intracom Defense (IDE) premises

As part of the simulated demonstration activities foreseen in the frame of the OCEAN2020 project, a demonstration of our partner Intracom Defense (IDE) on ‘’USS Autonomous Behaviour model’’ was held on Wednesday 23rd of June at IDE premises, with the attendance of EDA and Leonardo representatives. This demonstration aimed at illustrating the developed Collision Avoidance (CA) capability, integrated also in the USV SeaRider Remote Control Station. The CA capability is based on the on-board multisensor payload data (radar and AIS) and it is able to avoid collisions by following the maritime collision regulations (COLREGs). The concept was demonstrated using a Hardware In the Loop (HIL) testing platform, consisting of a) USV SeaRider’s Remote Control Station developed by IDE which integrates the developed CA capability, b) USV SeaRider’s HW autopilot module, c) USV SeaRider’s real-time 3DOF simulation platform and d) a real-time 6DOF 3D simulation platform integrated by IDE, for the purpose of high fidelity experimentation and training.

The milestone of this successful demonstration illustrates the beneficial role of OCEAN2020 project in the display of innovative concepts of USS autonomous operations.
